  1. Backup all of your data to your laptop or cloud before performing any resets.
  2. Before resetting, remove your SIM card and any memory card. If possible, make sure the phone is charged to 100% so that the phone will be powered to complete the reset process.
  3. Follow the instructions below for your model of phone. If your model is not listed please visit the Microsoft website for further information.

Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings >Delete data and restore.

Note that all the user files on E: mass memory and C: phone memory will be deleted with this command, e.g. the photos and videos.

Phone off - hard reset

  • Press these 3 keys simultaneously; Volume down, Camera & Menu. 

  • While holding these keys down, press on thePowerbutton to power up the phone.

  • Keep holding until your phone vibrates.

  • When the phone is powered up, at Standby Screen type-in *#7370#

  • It will ask for “Restore all phone settings-phone will restart….”

  • Then the security code, the factory default is12345

  • Hold until the phone vibrates.

  • Then release the Power button but keep the Volume and Camera pressed down for another 5 seconds.

  • While the phone is turned off, press these 3 keys simultaneously; 3, * & green Dial Button. 

  • While pressing these three, press the power button.
  • Hold the keys until the word "Formatting" appears.

  • Phone will be reset to back its factory condition. This method does not ever format the memory card.

 Lumia 

Phone off - hard reset

  • Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds until the phone vibrates.

  • Immediately hold down the Volume down button until a large exclamation mark appears.

  • Then press the following four buttons in the following order: Volume up, Volume down, Power & Volume down.

  • The phone will now reset and restart itself.

Phone off - hard reset - on a computer

  • Press and hold theVolume down and connect the charger or the USB cable with PC, for about 8 seconds, you will see an exclamation mark "!" on the screen.

  • Then press the following keys in this exact order: Volume up, Volume down, Power & Volume down.

  • Phone will restart.

Remote Reset

  • On a computer, go to windowsphone.com.

  • Point to the phone in the top-right corner, then click Find My Phone. If prompted, sign in with your phone's Microsoft account.

  • Click Erase.

  • Tick the I'm sure! Please erase my phone now check box, then click Erase.

  • Enter the lock code, the factory default is 12345.
