Inspire Recycling Action with MobileMuster (closed for 2023)
Educating the next generation of environmentally conscious consumers is one of MobileMuster’s core objectives. Since 2019, the annual competition seeks to educate students about the lifecycle of mobile phones and encourage them to use creative ways to motivate their local community to recycle old mobile phones.
This year, MobileMuster is offering its biggest prize yet! There are 2 x $5,000 gift cards to be won, with 6x $1,000 runner-up prizes.
And we’ve expanded the entry artwork across 3 mediums. To participate in the schools competition, students can submit any one of the following: Drawing, Photography, or Short Film.
The theme for all 3 mediums is Inspiring Recycling Action.
By creating an alliance between the arts and the environmental knowledge, MobileMuster wants students (in primary and secondary) to deliver a message to the school’s community about the relevance of recycling old unused mobile phones.
Students can choose any of the 3 mediums to deliver their message. The judging criteria can be found here.
Entries can be submitted between June 12 and September 30, 2023.
The competition is free, and open to primary and secondary students in Australia during 2023. Entrants can enter either as an individual or as a small group through their school. Full terms and conditions are available here.
Education resources
MobileMuster partners with Cool Australia to provide lessons for Years 3-8 designed to support teachers and students to produce quality films, photographs, and drawings for the competition.

Through these lessons, students are given opportunities to apply their learning in real world situations, in the classroom, school, home or the local community.

The MobileMuster students film competition first launched in 2019, inviting students to create a one minute film. Every year sees a different theme where students showed their creative skills to encourage people to recycle their old mobile phones and accessories.
