On November 1st the MobileMuster Program celebrated its 25th anniversary with members, partners, and stakeholders at the Bangarra Dance Theatre in Sydney.
Guests travelled through ‘The Infinite Loop’ on arrival, designed in partnership with Cheil Australia, which showed how mobile phones are recycled under MobileMuster, and a vision for the future of circularity.
Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association Ltd CEO Louise Hyland led the proceedings, welcoming guest speakers, the Honourable David Coleman MP, Shadow Minister for Communications and Justine Rowe, Chief Sustainability Officer for Telstra. Luke Van Hooft, Head of Regulatory at Optus and Chair of the AMTA gave the vote of thanks.
MobileMuster has recycled over 16 million phones over the last 25 years, totaling over 2,000 tonnes of mobile phone waste collected. This is equivalent to removing 5,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, or planting more than 80,000 trees. The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association Ltd thanks everyone who has helped make MobileMuster a leader in mobile phone recycling, and we look forward to the next 25 years.
