Schools Classroom Recycling Challenge

Join the MobileMuster Classroom Recycling Challenge and help raise funds for Zoo Conservation Projects.

This year, MobileMuster is running a Classroom Recycling Challenge to encourage teachers, students, families and their local communities to learn about and engage with mobile recycling, by collecting old and unwanted mobile phones and sending them in for recycling with MobileMuster, between 27 January and 30 September 2026.

Classes will come together, design a collection box, then collect old mobile phones from their homes and the community, and place them into the box. Once it’s full, head to the MobileMuster collections page, book a collection, and have your phones ready for pickup!

Best of all, MobileMuster will donate funds to our zoo conservation partners for every phone recycled! By participating in the MobileMuster Classroom Recycling Challenge, you will be helping to raise much needed funds for our zoo conservation projects. Read more about these conservation projects here.

The top collecting class from primary and secondary schools will win a unique online and/or in-person zoo experiences for their whole class. And, the collection box judged to have the best design from primary and secondary school will win a $1,000 gift voucher. Email us your design at mobilemuster@amta.org.au.

Education resources

MobileMuster partners with Cool.org to provide lessons for Years 3-8 designed to support teachers and students to produce quality films, photographs, and drawings for the competition.

You can access the latest education resources from Cool.org here.

Through these lessons, students are given opportunities to apply their learning in real world situations, in the classroom, school, home or the local community.
